The Christensens

This is a picture of our home's previous owners, the Christensens & I'm almost certain that our home is in the background. What an honor to live in a home with so much love and history behind it.

Coming Home

It all felt so familiar; the sagging floors, the cracked walls, the colorful carpet, the wood paneling, the tiny kitchen. Somehow it felt like home to us. It didn't matter that it was old and leaning to the north. It was ours and we both knew it.

It had been a hard few weeks. Our house in Lehi was for sale & had been under contract for nearly a month, when the buyer backed out 1 day before closing. 1 day! Who does that?! I have been a Realtor for 12 years and am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. I've always told my clients that sometimes we don't understand why things happen, but eventually it all makes sense. Well, I couldn't make sense of this. I didn't understand why this deal had fallen apart and why now it seemed that the sellers on our new house were being difficult and refusing to extend our contract. I couldn't make sense of why things had gone so smoothly up to this point and then had suddenly fallen apart.

We decided to start looking in the south county area. I made appointments for 3 homes in Spanish Fork and we drove out there after work on a Monday night. The home were pretty and would have suited our needs just fine, but none of them felt like home. We started driving, not knowing where we would end up. We drove past a cute little farmhouse in a town of 800 people called Lake Shore that had a For Sale By Owner sign out front and we pulled up the driveway. The sprawling green fields and endless open sky already spoke to us but something about this house was special. I made a phone call to the owner who answered right away and spoke in a sweet, reassuring tone. The price was affordable and he instructed us on how to get inside.

Walking inside was a breath of fresh air.
