Framing - 6/2/13

We wanted to re-frame part of the upstairs to add more square footage. We took out the wall between the NE bedroom and the family room to open it up into a 'great room' which now has a shelf all the way around it. We also framed in a door for the 1/2 bath, relocated the closet in the SW bedroom and opened a space in the ceiling to be able to view the chimney all the way up through the rafters. The  framing crew was fabulous and did the whole job in about 10 hours. We are so excited to be able to preserve the pristine wood floors and the original 1920 chimney! However, the old shag carpet, the flowered linoleum and the black, rock wool insulation had to go.

We also took out the ceiling of the enclosed porch at the back of the house. Hmmmm....I might have to keep these rafters the way they are!
